The 1978 Oregon Cemetery Survey is a comprehensive list of cemeteries commissioned by the Oregon Department of Transportation. It's purpose was to list all cemeteries in Oregon. This document has many more cemeteries listed that the Historic Cemetery List. As an example, in Washington County the Historic Cemetery List shows sixteen cemeteries, while this list records eighty-five. More than half qualify as historic cemeteries if their caretakers wanted such designation.
